DISPOSITIONAL PERSONALITY TRAITS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS: SIGNATURE ANALYSIS WITHIN AN ISLAMIC PSYCHOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: This scholarly research explores the psychological significance of signature analysis within an Islamic psychological framework, examining its associations with personality traits and indicators of psychological distress.

METHODOLOGY: Utilizing a mixed-method approach with quantitative and qualitative methods; in correlational design, the research analyzed four key variables: signature accuracy, personality traits, fears, and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and distress.

RESULTS: Findings revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between signature accuracy and personality traits (r = .255, p < .01), suggesting that more precise and consistent signatures may reflect stable personality characteristics (Karami, 2017; Surya Koushik et al., 2023). Conversely, signature accuracy was negatively correlated with fears (r = –.149, p < .05) and psychological symptoms of depression, anxiety and distress (r = –.126, p < .05), indicating that individuals experiencing higher distress may exhibit less controlled or inconsistent signature patterns (Van Edwards, 2023; Science of People, n.d.). The positive correlation between fears and psychological symptoms (r = .191, p < .01) further supports the interconnectedness of emotional vulnerability and mental health indicators.

In addition, a qualitative component involved semi-structured interviews with fifty participants, which were thematically coded using NVivo 12 software (Castleberry & Nolen, 2018). This analysis uncovered recurrent motifs linking signature alterations to shifts in self-perception and coping strategies. Concurrently, convolutional neural networks trained on digitized signature samples achieved an 87% classification accuracy in identifying patterns associated with elevated distress (LeCun, Bengio, & Hinton, 2015). Finally, fourteen in-depth success-story case studies and four analyses of forensic experts, demonstrated how personalized signature interventions led to measurable reductions in anxiety and improvements in self-efficacy over a three-month follow-up period (Yilmaz & Demir, 2022). These convergent methods affirm the utility of signature analysis as a culturally sensitive, non-invasive tool for psychological assessment, aligning with Islamic perspectives on behavioral expression and selfhood (Miguel, 2023).

CONCLUSION: This scholarly research aspires to offer valuable insights for mental health professionals, educators, forensic specialists and researchers, ultimately enhancing the quality of psychological care and support provided to individuals within the Islamic community. The research also draws upon Hadith references to enrich the understanding of personality traits and psychological well-being within an Islamic context (SunnahOnline, 2022). This research provides a tremendous opportunity for the individuals to open the doors to ignite a passion for turning into actionable and relatable life skills, while exploring their inner charisma.
