UNLEASHING THE POTENTIAL: A STUDY OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF YOUTUBE EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS ON TEACHER’S LEARNING OUTCOMES

Abstract

YouTube is not only a platform that individuals share, upload, comment on videos; but also, teachers and educators can make practical and effective use of it to the best as great that students can have more an advantage or profit gained. Teaching strategies and instructional materials used by the teachers are an important part of learning. This study aims to determine the effects of YouTube educational videos on teacher’s learning. The objectives of research were to examine the benefits, reliance and credibility of educational videos on teachers. The researcher used online questionnaire to collect data from 500 teachers of Lahore. Purposive sampling was used in this research. This study approached Uses and Gratifications Theory as a theoretical framework. The findings revealed that majority of respondents agreed with the improvement of educational YouTube videos in their knowledge of teaching principles, influenced their teaching methods and strategies, helpful in watching videos concerning their respective courses, it is helpful for teachers to watch YouTube educational videos multiple times and YouTube help teachers to improve their ability to engage students in learning activities.
