Abstract

This study intends to explore the complex working parts of the psyche i.e.  Id, Ego and Superego suggested by Psychanalyst Sigmund Freud and their effect on the behaviour of the main character Hazel Grace Lancaster in the novel The Fault In Our Stars (2012) by John Green. In the following literary research qualitative approach of investigation will be carried out through psychoanalytical lens of Sigmund Freud by employing content analysis method. The research tends to examine the need for human motivation in life especially in case of cancer patient Hazel in relation with Freud and Maslow’s Model of Hierarchy of Needs.
