The success of IT projects is critically dependent on the competencies of project managers and the effectiveness of knowledge-sharing practices within project teams. This study examined the relationship between project manager competencies and project success in the IT sector of Pakistan, with knowledge sharing as a mediating variable. A quantitative research design was adopted, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 250 IT professionals across public and private organizations. Descriptive statistics, reliability and validity analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) were employed to test the hypothesized relationships. The findings revealed that project manager competencies significantly influenced project success, and knowledge sharing partially mediated this relationship. The results highlight the importance of fostering a knowledge-sharing culture to maximize the impact of managerial competencies on project performance. The study contributes to the project management literature by providing empirical evidence from a developing country context and offers practical implications for IT organizations seeking to enhance project outcomes.
