Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming modern education by introducing intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning environments, and accessibility-oriented technologies. In the context of Deaf education, AI holds significant promise for reducing communication barriers, enhancing instructional accessibility, and promoting inclusive academic participation. However, the integration of AI into Deaf education programs presents multiple challenges, including the linguistic complexity of sign languages, the scarcity of annotated datasets, infrastructure limitations, ethical concerns, and the need for cultural sensitivity. This study critically examines both the opportunities and the implementation challenges associated with AI adoption in Deaf education. A structured AI-driven educational model is proposed, incorporating speech-to-text systems, sign language recognition and translation modules, adaptive learning engines, intelligent tutoring systems, and learning analytics dashboards. A simulated pilot evaluation framework demonstrates notable improvements in comprehension, engagement, and personalised learning outcomes. The findings suggest that while AI technologies significantly enhance accessibility and educational effectiveness, their success depends on inclusive design principles, ethical governance, institutional readiness, and active involvement of Deaf communities. The study concludes that responsible and collaborative AI deployment can play a transformative role in advancing equitable Deaf education systems.
