AI-BASED DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATIONS ACROSS INDUSTRIES: A LITERATURE-BASED REVIEW OF ADVANCES, CHALLENGES, AND SOCIETAL IMPACT

has impacted almost all areas of society and industry. This paper will discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence in the period of 2023-2025 in terms of further technological progress, practice, and ethical and societal issues that will arise. A qualitative and literature-based research methodology is utilized in the study by reviewing the academic articles, technical reports, and case studies of reputable sources, which help understand how AI has evolved over the years between the theoretical research and practical application. The results presented indicate that the current development of machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision has considerably enhanced efficiency, accuracy and decision-making in various fields, such as healthcare, education, finance, cybersecurity, agriculture and transportation. The AI systems have improved the process of diagnosing diseases, individualized learning, detecting fraud, smart agriculture, traffic, and detecting threats. Simultaneously, the article also notes that the main issues with such systems include algorithm bias, absence of transparency, data security issues, high costs of implementation, and regulatory control. The findings also highlight that although AI is a significant source of productivity and innovation, it is necessary to deploy it responsibly, which would provide equity, accountability, and human trust. Research findings suggest that AI is to perform in a supportive role and complement human skills, but not to eliminate human judgment. Artificial Intelligence can be used as a source of sustainable development and positive change in society in the future with ethical governance, unceasing monitoring, and human-AI partnership.
