The U.S. is experiencing a major shortage of talent that has been aggravated by demographic and skills shortages as well as evolving workforce needs. This has placed a great burden on the business enterprises especially when it comes to recruiting and retaining talented employees. This paper provides an insight into how AI-driven workforce analytics can be used as a revolutionary remedy to these talent gaps by improving human resource management (HRM) practices. The AI tools can streamline recruitment processes and enhance employee retention, as well as develop individualized workforce development plans, through predictive analytics. The article analyses the use of AI in different HRM practices through a literature review and case studies such as talent acquisition, talent performance and employee engagement. The results indicate that AI could assist human resources to make informed decisions with regard to data, simplify the operation and eventually close the talent gap. Nevertheless, there are also possible obstacles mentioned in the article, including the moral issues of bias and confidentiality. The paper finds that although AI is an interesting prospect of overcoming talent shortages, its effective application should be approached with caution in regards not only to technological abilities but also to ethical concerns.
