EXPLORING THE PSYCHOLOGICAL PATHWAYS LINKING SPIRITUALITY AND HAPPINESS TO PROSOCIAL BYSTANDER BEHAVIOR: MEDIATING ROLE OF ALTRUISM AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Pro social bystander behavior, or willingness to help others in need is critical component for building a compassionate and just society. Helping others in need is crucial for building a kind and fair society. But what motivate people to help? This quantitative research investigate the relationship between spirituality, happiness, and pro-social bystander behavior among university students. The data was collected from 300 universities students, using online survey. The correlation research design was used to find correlation between study variables and regression analysis was used to find the mediating role of altruism. The results revealed that spirituality is positively correlated with happiness which indicate that students who reported higher level of spirituality also experience greater happiness. The results also indicate that the relationship between spirituality, happiness, and pro-social bystander behavior is mediated by altruism. This suggest that spirituality and happiness promote altruistic tendencies, which in turn foster pro-social bystander behavior. The finding of this results help to understand the complex interplay between spirituality, happiness and pro-social bystander behavior. This study highlight the importance of cultivating altruism in promoting positive social behaviors among university students.
